Today on TLS I”m chatting with Megan Bowers again -- only this time I’m explaining why I’ve decided to go the last week without glasses or contacts, even though I have a -4.0 prescription. After deciding to experiment with all the knowledge I’ve been finding out about the subconscious and healing over the past several months, I focused on my eyesight first and foremost. What began as a somewhat “simple” experiment, has revealed far more than I ever would have imagined when it comes to emotion, eyesight, and healing. This episode is perfect for anyone who is curious about the connection between vision, sight, and emotion.

Today’s Lively Show is a bolt of inspiration and an a-ha that struck me so deeply that I immediately turned on the mic and started to talk it out… with you! I am so excited for you to hear this one -- this is my recent revelation and a-ha moment surrounding the difficulty or pain we sometimes experience when we feel like where we are in some area of our lives is no longer serving us. We know it’s time to move onto something new, but there is a catch - a part of us that isn’t quite ready to keep up with the shift that is dwelling within us. Today I’m going into why this is and a way around these identity shifts so we can flow more peacefully from one stage of life to the next. This episode is perfect for anyone looking to learn how to do the new things they want to do, without the fear of “changing” their identity.

In this episode, we’re stopping by my friend’s cake studio, Sweet Heather Anne’s in Ann Arbor, MI. Heather and her assistant, Camilla, have perfected the Italian-style way of making macarons and they're teaching us all the tips and tricks when it comes to making these tasty (and gluten-free) treats at home.
While the recipe is way more detailed than what show notes can allow, Heather has created intricate and easy-to-follow instructions for both the buttercream and macaron shell that you can download in .pdf format here:
Ingredient List:
Vanilla Swiss Buttercream
1 cup egg whites, at room temperature 1⁄2 tsp salt
1 cup white sugar
3⁄4cup brown sugar
2 pounds unsalted butter at room temperature (never cold butter!)
1 TBL Nielsen-Massey vanilla paste
**Add Strawberry Jam and Bergamot Oil to taste to create the strawberry bergamot buttercream made in the video.
Macaron Shell
scant 3 cups almond flour (10.5 ounces)
scant 3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup liquified egg whites
1/3 cup water
1+ scant 1/3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup liquified egg whites
gel color (varies on shade preference)

Today I’m sharing some MAJOR news that has recently shifted my life’s trajectory. When I normally share personal events, it has been weeks or months since I worked through my emotions and came to a decision. However, in this episode, you’re getting a look at what it’s like for me to work past my ego and listen for my intuition in real time. There are a few tears and lots of vulnerability. I hope by sharing this video that it somehow helps others who may be going through difficult decisions to tap into their intuition as well.

You guys probably know my obsession with candles, but I'm not obsessed with their prices! I wanted to learn how to make my own so I took a quick trip to Detroit to visit with Dierdre Skiles of Detroit Rose Candle Company. She taught me how to make my own candles in the microwave and it is so simple. Enjoy the video tutorial and check out the directions and resources below!

Detroit Rose Candle Company
Follow Deirdre Skiles on Instagram

- Glass or Ceramic Container
- Wick
- Glue Dots
- Screwdriver
- Fragrance and/or essential oils
- Herbs or petals (if you’d like!)
- Soy or Coconut Wax
- Pyrex (or any microwave-safe measuring cup)
- Microwave
- Hand towel
- Clothespin
- Scissors

To Remove Old Wax From A Used Container:
- Place container in the freezer overnight
- Use a butterknife to gently scrape out remaining wax/wick
- Any remaining wax/wick can be removed in the dishwasher.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes // Wait Time: 6 Hours // Candle Time: All Day, Every Day!

To Make A Candle:
- Place a glue dot (or tape or glue) on the bottom of the wick base.
- Place wick (with glue dot side facing down) in the bottom of the container.
- Use a screwdriver (or any stick-like tool) to gently tap on the metal base to secure the wick to the container.
- If using herbs or petals, sprinkle them in the bottom of the container. (Do this now so the herbs get completely coated in wax.)
- Measure out wax and place in Pyrex.
- Microwave wax on high for 5 minutes. (If wax isn’t completely melted, continue microwaving in 30-second increments.)
- Remove the Pyrex with a hand towel supporting the bottom. (Caution: IT WILL BE HOT!)
- Gently pour the wax in to the container leaving a little room at the top.
- Slide the wick through the middle-hole of the clothespin and allow the clothespin to rest on top. This is the time to make sure the wick is straight and centered.
- Let it dry for 6 hours.
- After at least 6 hours, remove the clothespin and cut the remaining wick leaving a “1/2 inch of wick at the top.
